My “son” Lucas has had a history of urinary issues the past few years. I did what the vet told me – and that was to feed him prescription food. I thought that the problem was being taken care of by the food. Needless to say, the food was causing more of a problem. I discovered this after catching a random urine sample, I have never seen anything so red and I couldn’t imagine how much pain he was in. The thought that he had been suffering all this time while showing no signs, it made me feel like a terrible mom. There was a time when you think that the vet knows best, but the reality is, that they do not. Their prescription food was filled with crap ingredients and they never told me that a cat with urinary problems should not eat dry food and I also discovered on my own that a moist diet is the key to treatment. After I expressed my concern about the food, they still wanted me to keep feeding that crap food to him. I just couldn’t. What I was looking for was a food that would be close to the diet of a cat living in the wild. Some ingredients just don’t belong in our pet’s food. Great news is that I took matters into my own hands and found that the Tender and True Canned Organic Chicken & Liver had the best ingredients. My son however was not as excited about his diet change. He fought me for days until I finally came up with a good mixture of the chicken & liver food with a tiny scoop of baby chicken food mixed in and some Forti-Flora sprinkled on top. So, almost a whole case through and his pee is clear and he just seems like a different cat, my daughter too. We are so happy.
